Attention, Ladies

Did you know that one out of
eight women will be afflicted with
breast cancer sometime in their
life if they live to the age of 85?
In fact, breast cancer accounts for
26 percent of all cancer that occurs
in women.
Close to 30 women learned
about the importance of mammo-
grams and self-breast exams at a
breast-cancer awareness program
hosted recently by the Mitzvah
and Ruach groups of Hadassah.

Talya Kupin and Julie Stur-
man co-chaired the event, which
featured Dr. Elizabeth L.
Schmitt, imaging director of the

ter. Dr. Schmitt suggests if your
sister or mother suffered from
breast cancer at an early age, have
a mammogram 10 years prior to
the age when she was diagnosed.
"We wanted something related
to health issues that affects
women in the community," ex-
plained Kupin. "Breast cancer is
a very important concern. I
thought the program was a real
eye-opener."

As a child, I dreamed of becoming a dolphin trainer. This ca-
reer decision came around age 9 after my first trip to Sea World.
Needless to say, Shamoo and friends are turning tricks by some-
one else's training.
Several young adults shared their childhood visions of what
they wanted to be when they grew up and what they actually be-
came or will become after finishing school.
