scrappy coupon book he created
with his sister Stacey back in col-
lege would launch a thousand
pages.
He assumed law school was his
destiny and studied political sci-
ence as an undergraduate at
Wayne State University to prepare
\--himself. And the coupon book,
which offered discounts in restau-
rants and entertainment venues
on various college campuses,
might have worked had they had
funds to see it through its growing
pains.
But the coupon book would
serve as the germ of an idea that
Mr. Kamin, 35, to start Im-
pulse magazine in 1995 and now
Michigan HealthCARE Business
Monthly.
After Mr. Kamin, 35, finished
school and worked at several jobs,
he started a swimming pool com-
pany, which he ran for two years,
and sold advertising for a Cslifor-

marketing Impulse, a monthly
magazine devoted to the local arts
community and the antiques mar-
