The four are Shawn Green, a right fielder with Toronto; Brad Asmus, a catcher with San Diego; Milwaukee pitcher Jesse Levis; and Oakland pitcher Doug Johns. Green, 23, started 97 games last year for Toronto. In 379 at bats he hit .288 with 15 home runs and 54 nins batted in. So far this year, he's hitting .222 in 180 at bats. Asmus and Levis are not cur- rently on the major league rosters of their teams. Johns has a 4-8 pitching record for Oakland and a 5.38 earned run average. Summer Hockey Schools Offered Hockey Central is offering three levels of hockey instruction in July at the Southfield Civic Center Are- na. A two-hour daily program will be held July 8-12 for boys and girls age 6-16. An adult program will be of- fered 8-10 p.m. on the same dates. U.S. Maccabiah Alums In Olympics Philadelphia —Four athletes who have competed on the United States team in Israel's World Mac- cabiah Games will compete at the Olympic Games this summer. The four are fencers Clifford Bayer of New York and Elaine Cheris of Denver, judoist Damon Keeve of San Francisco and swim- mer Daniel Kutler, now of Israel. Swimmer Brenda Levy of Rockville, Md., will compete in the Paralympic Games in August. Bayer, 19, won an individual bronze and team silver medal in fencing in the Maccabiah in 1993. He was U.S. National Champi- on in 1994 and placed seventh in the World Games in Belgium last year. Bayer took the year off from school to concentrate on fencing and will attend the Wharton School of Business at the Univer- sity of Pennsylvania in the fall. Cheris, 50, competed for the United States in the 1980 and 1988 Olympics, on the 1987 and 1991 Pan American teams, and in Maccabiah in 1981. She owns a fencing club in Denver. Keeve, 35, earned medals in judo at the 1985 and 1989 Mac- cabiah Games and finished sev- enth for the United States in the heavyweight class at the 1992 Olympics. He is a San Francisco police officer and a high school football coach. Kutler, 25, won gold medals for the U.S. in the 100 meter butter- fly and on the 4x100 meter freestyle relay team at the 1993 Maccabiah. A native of Santa Clara, Calif., he swam at the 1991 World University Games, the 1989 Olympic Festival, and for UCLA. He made aliyah to Israel last year. Brenda Levy, 38, made the U.S. Paralympic swim team this spring. She won three gold medals at the 1993 Maccabiah in events for athletes with disabilities.
