director of Temple Emanu-El.
Ms. Leibson received her mas-
ter's degree in guidance and
counseling from Oakland Uni-
versity. She has been teaching in
the religious school.

JASON ERIC BROOKS, a

1996 graduate of West Bloom-
field High School, was recently
named first place winner in a tri-
state news analysis competition.
Jason was on the staff of the
school newspaper, the Spectrum.
In addition, Jason received a Gold
Key Award in photography in a
Scholastic Art Award competi-
tion sponsored by the Center for
Creative Studies, College of Art
and Design.

GARY D. MILLER of West
Bloomfield was recently pre-
sented a lifetime associate mem-
bership for his continued
assistance to Hadassah. Mr.
Miller also was honored by Kadi-
ma for hours spent "taking Kadi-
ma into the 21st century." He
serves as treasurer of Kadima
and volunteers services to nu-
merous other Jewish organiza-
tions.

Stephen Holinstat

Jerry and Sharon Holinstat of
Trumbull, Conn., grandson of
Sara Chaben of Farmington,
and Ruth and Sam Feingold of
West Palm Beach, Fla., gradu-
ated cum laude from Fordham
University School of Law with a
doctor of law degree and was
inducted into the "Order of
the Coif" for graduating in the
top 10 percent of his class.
Steven was also awarded the
Archibald R. Murray Public Ser-
vice Award for endeavors in pub-
lic service through law school.
He has joined the Law Firm of
Haythe & Curley in New York
City and -,vill begin employment
on completion of the connecticut
and New York Bar Exams in
July.

DONALD M. COHEN has com-

pleted his graduate studies at
Gratz College in Philadelphia. He
earned a master darts degree in
Jewish education and a master
of arts degree in Jewish studies.
Mr. Cohen will become director
of education at Congregation
Beth Shalom in Seattle. He is the
son of Bernard and Sylvia Cohen
of Southfield.

KORY LAVINE, 11th grader at

Roeper School, son of Steve and
Tina Lavine of Birmingham, has
been selected by the faculty of
the school to receive Bausch and
Lomb Science Award Medal.
The award may be made to one
outstanding junior each year
in participating high schools;
the student is chosen by the
high school faculty on the basis
of academic achievement in sci-
ence.

at Roeper School, son of Ira and
Joan Lessen-Firestone of Bloom-
field Hills, will receive the. Rens-
selaer Medal awarded by the
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
This award is given to a member
of the junior class who is out-
standing in mathematics and sci-
ence and who demonstrates
potential for success in a science
or technologically-oriented pro-
fession.

bor recently received his medical
doctor degree from the Universi-
ty of Michigan Medical School.
He will serve his residency in ra-
diology at Cleveland University
Hospital.

SUZANNE L. LICHTMAN of
Farmington Hills was honored
recently with University of De-
troit Mercy Dean's Award pre-
sented at the university's Honors
Convocation. Ms. Lichtman re-
ceived the award based on her
high academic achievement, ser-
vice to the college, community
service and overall scholastic
achievement. She is employed at
AAA Michigan.
