Voting For
School Boards

Candidates for OCC and Oakland County
school boards face off on June 10.

JENNIFER FINER STAFF WRITER

T

his time of year, most of the political hype is over
upcoming state and national races, making it easy
for some voters to forget about next week's school
board elections in Oakland County.
On June 10, voters will select school board representa-
tives as well as two trustees for the Oakland Community
College Board.
The Jewish News asked candidates in Birmingham,
Bloomfield Hills, Farmington, Oak Park, Southfield and
West Bloomfield to provide information (150 words or less
per question) about their background, reasons for run-
ning, funding issues and prayer in school. OCC candidates
were also asked to discuss the pressing issues facing the
community college and their feelings about diversity ed-
ucation at OCC. 0
