HMC Trains
New Docents

The Holocaust Memorial Center
(HMC) will start a new docent
training session on June 17, at 10
a.m. at the HMC, 6602 W. Maple
Road, West Bloomfield.
Docents guide groups on a
walking tour through the HMC
to explain the exhibits and inter-
pret the history and lessons of the
Holocaust.
Participants view videos, read
assigned books and articles and
share the experiences of seasoned
docents. A one-on-one walk-
through tour with a member of
the docent training committee
completes the program.
The training program normal-
ly lasts several weeks, but it can
be tailored to meet participants'
needs and schedules. Future do-
cents can complete their training
at their own pace. Once they have
finished the program, they can
choose the day or days on which
they would like to serve. Needed
are adults with a few daytime
hours to give each month.
Call HMC administrator Sel-
ma Silverman, (810) 661-0840, for
information.
