Jennifer Michelle Gornbein of
Commerce Township will be bat
mitzvah at Temple Israel on
June 7. Rabbi Yedwad and Can-
tor Orbach will lead the service.
Proud grandparents are Sy
Raskin and Rosalind Gumenick.
Jenny also is the granddaughter
of the late, beloved Selma Raskin
and Myra and Carl Gornbein.
Jenny's parents Sharon and Nor-
man Gornbein and her sister Ja-
clyn are excited about joining her
in the service.
Jenny attends Clifford H.
Smart Middle School and is a
straight "A" honor student. She
enjoys playing the piano, danc-
ing and rollerblading.

Bonds Events
Being Planned

The Greater Detroit Israel Bonds
campaign will sponsor a com-
munity-wide "Jerusalem 3000"
celebration on Sunday evening,
Sept. 8, at the Palace of Auburn
Hills. The event will be high-
lighted by the presentation of the
"Jerusalem 3000 Covenant
Award" to honorees representing
synagogues and temples from the
Orthodox, Conservative and Re-
form movements, entertainment,
as well as cocktails, hor d'oeuvres,
a buffet dinner and an afterglow
dessert buffet.

Publicity Deadlines

The normal deadline for local news and pub-
licity items is noon Thursday, eight days prior to
issue date. The deadline for birth announcements
is 10 am. Monday, four days prior to issue date;
out-of-town obituaries, 10 am. Tuesday, three
days prior to issue date.
