Essay Contest
Honors Fathers

Esther's Judaica Giftworld of
West Bloomfield will sponsor an
essay contest in honor of Father's
Day. Children are invited to
write 100 words or less on "My
Dad Taught Me How To Be A
Jew" and to submit their entry
to Esther's Judaica Giftworld.
The judging will be held on Sun-
day, June 9.
Three prizes will be awarded:
a sterling silver kiddush cup, a
silver dreidel and a gift certifi-
cate for a book valued at $20. In
addition, all entries brought into
the store will be eligible to win
the award-winning video Mira-

cle Days.

Highlighting the theme of the
contest, Esther's will host at its
store a slide-show presentation,
"Hats Off to Moms and Dads —
Pillars of the Jewish Family,"
which will run on Sunday, June
9, and on Sunday, June 16.

The Jewish Historical Society of
Michigan has nominated James
D. Grey as the new president for
the 1996-1998 term. Other officers
to be installed at the June 9 an-
nual luncheon are Adele &miler,
vice-president; Harriet Siden,
recording secretary; Gertrude
Edgar, corresponding secretary;
Benno Levi, treasurer.
Hugh Broder, Cynthia Brody,
Eveleen Budnitsky, Miriam Co-
hen, Dorothy Kaufman, Milton
Marwil, Stephen Rosman, Shel-
don B. Satovsky and Suzanne
Shifman have been nominated as
directors.
Judith Levin Cantor, immedi-
ate past pregident, will continue
as editor of the journal, Michigan

Jewish History.

In addition to serving as vice-
president for the Jewish Histori-
cal Society, Mr. Grey serves on the
executive board of the Jewish Ge-
nealogical Society of Michigan and
is chair of the Temple Israel

Congregation B'nai Moshe will
hold its annual meeting at the shul
on Wednesday, June 5, at 7:30
p.m., to elect congregational offi-
cers and board of directors for the
coming year.
Nominated to serve as officers
of the congregation are: Steven T.
Rabinovitz, president; Jay
Welford, Joel Ungar and Harold
Greenspan, vice presidents; Lar-
ry Glanz, treasurer; Susan Fried-
man, recording secretary; Marc
Sussman, corresponding secretary.
Nominated to serve on the con-
gregation's board of directors for a
term of three years are: Dennis
Deutsch Steve Fine, Kerry Green-
hut, David Gunsberg, Renee
Gunsberg, Nancy Kaplan and
Donald Sachs. Nominated for
board terms ending in 1998 are
Dave Freedman and Ken
Kirschenbaum. Nominated for a
one-year board term is Ruthe Levy
Kahn.
The program for the meeting
also will include a report on B'nai
Moshe's plans for construction of
a new education wing to provide
classroom space for the congrega-
tion's LIFE Program (a Shabbat-
based, family-focused religious
school) and expanded adult Jew-
ish learning opportunities at B'nai
Moshe.
