Celebratory Events

Saturday, June 8, will mark a cel-
ebration dinner in honor ofTem-
ple Kol Ami's 30th Anniversary,
Rabbi Emeritus Ernst J. Conrad's
75th birthday and Rabbi Norman
T. Roman's 10th year with the
congregation. There will be a
silent auction during the pre-din-
ner social hour at 7 p.m. at the
temple.

Ami Sisterhood.
The weekend's activities con-
tinue with Shabbat family ser-

The weekend's festivities be-
gin Friday, June 7, at 8 p.m. for
Shabbat evening services and
installation of the new board of
trustees. Elected to the execu-
tive board are: president, Don-
na R. Sklar; vice presidents,
Laurence Imerman, Richard
Lenter, Marc Winner; secretary,
Lee Schottenfels; and treasurer,
Irving Yellin. Irving Friedman
will serve as past president.
Elected to the general board
for a two-year term expiring in
1998 are: Lori Filer, Judith
Goren, David Gumenick, Mari-
lynn Levin, Sandra Nessel,
Shirley Rosenberg and Mini Sil-
ver-Weiss. Elected to fill a va-
cancy for a term expiring in 1997
is Naomi Tendler.
Continuing on the board are:

Barbara Nusbaum has been
renominated to third one-year
term as president of JARC. The
entire 1996-97 slate of officers
and di r . ectors will be voted upon
at the organization's annual
meeting to be held Tuesday,
June 11, at 7:30 p.m. at Temple
Israel. James K. Haveman Jr.,
director of the newly-created
Michigan Department of Com-
munity Health, will present the
keynote address.
Also nominated are president-
elect, I. William Cohen; vice pres-
idents, Sandra Dembs, Daniel
Medow and H. James Zack; sec-
retary, Carol Kaczander; and
treasurer, Ron Elkus.
Nominate

three-year term are Barbara
Bloom, Dr. Barry Feldman, Bev-
erly Frank, Rita Haddow,
Michael Pitt and H. James Zack.
Nominated for a first three-
year term are Ron Applebaum,
Lisa Brown, Linda Hayman, Dr.
H. John Jacob, Meryl Podolsky,
Rosalie Rosen, Eli Sherr and Dr.
Beverly Talan.
Mr. Haveman will speak
about the restructuring and its
effects upon people receiving
mental health services and those
waiting for services. The public
is welcome to the annual meet-
ing; there is no charge. A sign
language interpreter will be pro-
