Mr. Shlanger was born in Velke Kapusany, Czechoslovakia, and lived in the Detroit area for over 40 years. His first ca- reer was as a real estate bro- ker from which he retired more than 20 years ago. He then devoted his life to his edu- cation, attaining a master's de- gree in economics. A Holocaust survivor, he was an expert on European history and his passion was to lecture regularly in school sys- tems, as a docent at the Holo- caust Memorial Center in West Bloomfield and whenever the opportunity was presented to fight his private war against revisionists. Mr. Schlanger is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Avi Lewinson of Caldwell, N. J., Gloria and James Nowicki of Bloomfield Hills; sister and brother-in-law, Rosalie and Michael Tobias of Oak Park; grandchildren, Sere- na and Benjamin Nowicki, Eliezer and Jacob Lewinson.
