Award for the 1995-96 year, rec-

Temple Youth) and served that
youth group as a board member.

affairs, has been elected presi-
dent of the Friends of Israel Can-
cer Association (ICA). Mr. Kepes
has been an active supporter of
the American Friends of Hebrew
University, Magen David Adom,
Jewish Theological Seminary,
Bais-Chabad Lubavicher Con-
gregation, the City of Hope Can-
cer Research of Duarte,
California and the Jewish Na-
tional Fund under whose aus-
pices he established the Melvin
and Inez Kepes Memorial For-
est, a project dedicated to the
memory of his wife.

Jill Rosenthal
JILL ROSENTHAL of Farm-
ington Hills has been named
1996 State of Michigan, Student
Teacher of the Year "Semi-Fi-
nalist." Ms. Rosenthal did her
student teaching in Spanish at
North Farmington High School.
She is a graduate of Michigan
State University, where she ob-
tained both her bachelor's degree
in Spanish and her teaching cer-
tificate. Ms. Rosenthal is pursu-
ing a master of arts degree in
secondary education.
ADAM SCHWARTZ, a senior
at Groves High School, received
two awards from the Michigan
Student Film and Video Festival
1996.
Edward L. Greenspan, one of
Canada's criminal lawyers and
a civil libertarian, will be among
persons who will gather Tues-
day, June 11, to honor Windsor
community educator and volun-
teer Frances Parties.
The dinner is a major fund
raiser for Windsor JNF.
Attendees will honor Mrs.
Parnes for her contribution and
commitment to the Windsor
Jewish community through her
25-year teaching career at Shaar
Hashomayim's Nursery School
and extensive volunteer work,
with a lengthy list of Jewish
fund-raising and social organi-
zations.
