ANOTHER RESTAURANT name with a great tradition re- turns as the original Stage Deli opens Aug. 15 in the new 650-seat court at Somerset Collection North. Owner Steve Goldberg, son of Harriet and the late Jack Gold- berg, bought back the Nine-Mile- in-Oak-Park name his parents had sold after opening Stage & Co. on the Boardwalk in West Bloomfield. Steve will bring back the old Stage Deli logo and the nostalgic feel will include the best of his present Stage & Co. Everything will be prepared in a display kitchen where cus- tomers get to see sandwiches be- ing made plus the many deli preparations, most of which will be homemade right there on the premises. The 1,000 square feet of kitchen and counters will be one of eight Somerset North restau- > rants open seven days a week. Stage & Co.'s most popular sandwiches, four favorite salads, /- four most wanted cold plates, the traditional soups (matzah ball, noodle, etc.), desserts (bobka, cheesecake, etc.) and beverages (Dr. Pepper, Nesbit Orange, Ver- nor's, etc.) will be highlighted. The Stage name will do won- ders among shoppers, and Steve Goldberg bringing back that original title is highly com- mendable. WHERE THEY ARE ... Hy Vogel, famous London Chop.
