FROM THE EDITOR

PONTOONS

o help celebrate summer,
we publish our annual issue of
Summer Pleasures. We planned
this issue with you in mind. Our
summer calendar is filled with the
best local events — from fabulous
art fairs to awesome entertain-
ment happenings.
Because we understand the spe-
cial bond between grandchildren
and grandparents, we asked
writer Ruthan Brodsky to inter-
view some local grandparents
about how they spend quality time
with their grandchildren. From
the art museum to gardening, we
have suggestions to make this a
great summer with the family.
Ruthan also wrote two additional
stories to add to your summer fun.
For a family adventure or a solo
vacation, try white-water rafting.
For the golfers, Ruthan re-
searched the latest equipment to
improve your game.
How can a Summer Pleasures is-
sue be complete without men-
tioning Charlevoix? Marj Jackson
Levin informs us about the thriv-
ing Jewish community Up North.
Special thanks to Suzy Farbman
who provided us with her per-
sonal photographs.
Closer to home, Suzanne
Chessler wrote about all the glo-
rious summer art fairs. And if
you're looking for a quick get-
away, check out Marcia Danner's
story on the Victorian Rose Bed
and Breakfast in Commerce
Township.
Whether you're staying in the city
or planning a vacation this sum-
mer, we hope this issue helps you
find a balance of activity and re-
laxation.
We hope our "Summer Plea-
sures" brings sunny skies.
Sincerely,

Carla Schwartz
