CAROL BIRKEN WISE

SPECIAL TO THE JEWISH NEWS

S

fizzling summer days can
play havoc with skin and
makeup, but there are
many ways to stay fresh
and cool looking. From hot trop-
ical brights to the frostiest pastels,
colors seem to dance off the sum-
mer palette. Eyes are the focal
point, with lips voluminous and
sexy.
An exercise routine is a must.
Start off the summer by joining
a health club or walking for
20 minutes a day. Keeping
fit not only keeps the body
healthy but increases cir-
culation, giving skin a
healthy glow.
Many moisturizers and
foundations contain sunblock, so
check ingredient lists. Sunblock
should be worn daily and applied
30 minutes before going outside.

SKIN CARE

Moisturizers should be lightly tex-
tured and applied sparingly. Use a
sun block and lip protection
daily. Create a healthy sum-
mer glow with some of these
new products for summer:
Estee Lauder's Clear Dif-
ference, an oil-control hy-
drator, is an oil-free fluid
gel that dramatically ben-
efits the look and feel of
skin. It regulates oil pro-
duction while delivering oil-
free moisture to keep the skin
supple and free of clogged pores.

mer months because oil glands
tend to be more active in the in-
tense humidity.
Self-Action SuperTan is also
from Estee Lauder. SuperTan is
made with natural fruit acid and
claims to give a natural-looking
tan in one to two hours. The se-
cret is in the gentle fruit
acid that adjusts the
skin's natural pH, so
only the most natural
"tan tones" develop.
SuperTan is available for

FOUNDATION

Choose a color that suits the skin
tone. Two shades darker is the lim-
it. To prevent a demarcation line,
use a small amount of moisturiz-
er along the jaw line and blend
well.
Impeccable Quick Finish Make-
up from Estee Lauder is a light-
weight, oil-free, creme-gel formula
that is easy to apply and feels
weightless. Its compact portabili-
ty is perfect for the woman on the
go.
Maquicontrole by Lancome is
an oil-free, liquid foundation that
will make your skin appear
smooth and flawless. The new
collection contains 18 shades,
from the lightest "porcelaine" to
the darkest "bronze." Maquicon-
trole has SPF 8 environmental
protection. For stronger environ-
mental protection try Lancome's
Imanance Mat, a new oil-free tint-
ed, creme with SPF 15, available
in four colors. This is perfect for
hot, humid weather.
