Sports Night

The Benefactors of the Jewish
Home for Aged will host its
Ninth Annual Sports Night and
Installation on Thursday, May
23, at the Glen Oaks Country
Club, 6:30 p.m. reception; 7 p.m.
dinner. There will be an instal-
lation of officers and board of di-
rectors for 1996-7. The guest
celebrity will be Steve Garagio-
la, sportscaster.

Memorial Day
Services Set

The Hebrew Benevolent Society
(Chesed Shel Emes) will hold
Memorial Day services on Sun-
day, May 26, at noon at the vet-
erans' section of their cemetery.
Hebrew Memorial Park is at
Gratiot and 14 Mile Road. Fam-
ilies and friends are invited to at-
tend.

Bais Chabad
Plans Events

Bais Chabad of Farmington Hills
will host a lecture about Shavuot.
On Sunday, May 19, at 10
a.m., a lecture will be given for
women focusing on the life of
Ruth. The lecture, titled "Ruth a
Woman's Journey: From the
Depth of Depravity of Paganism
to the Heights of Holiness," will
explore her life. The lecture will
be given by Mrs. Nechama Dina
Bergstein. Brunch will be served
with the lecture. There is a $5
suggested donation.
The lecture will be held at Bais
Chabad of Farmington Hills,
3200 Middlebelt Road (between
14 Mile Rd. & Northwestern).

Congregation Bais Chabad
will have a Shavuot celebration
3308. The Torah will be studied

all night beginning at 12:01 a.m.
Friday, May 25. Light refresh-
ments will be served. There will
be a special program for children.
All children who come to hear
the Torah reading of the Ten
Commandments will receive ice
cream, prizes and refreshments.
The congregation will host a
lecture and brunch on Sunday,
May 26, 10 a.m. at the syna-
gogue. Dr. Elaine Soller will
speak on "The Benefits Of Hyp-
notherapy." Dr. Soller is a clini-
cal psychologist in private
practice with offices in Farm-
ington Hills and Ann Arbor.
There is a charge of $7. Reser-
vations are preferred.

For Teen Mission

The Agency for Jewish Educa-
tion, together with Michigan Is-
rael Connection and Partnership
2000 has developed a new edu-
cational web site for Miracle Mis-
sion for Teens participants and
other interested young people in
our area.
The web site, which can be
found at http://www.outreach.
umich.edu/Partnership2000/Mic
higan/programs/teenmission, is
comprised of three unique com-
ponents: "Mission Information,"
an overview of the Detroit area
program; "Israel Learning," an
exploration of historical and mod-
em Israel; and "Teen Forum," an
interactive discussion between
American and Israeli teen-agers.
Students will have the op-
portunity to get to know other
Mission teens, introduce them-
selves to Israeli youth who they
will meet later during the sum-
mer and present issues and top-
ics of discussion to other young
people. For information about

Simcha Oneg
Set For Friday

Simcha, an organization for Jew-
ish lesbians, gays, their family
and friends, will present "A
Family and Friends Oneg Shab-
bat" on Friday, May 17, at 7:30
p.m. at the Cranbrook Office
Center North, 30233 Southfield
Road. The Shabbat celebration
will feature poetry, music, and
refreshments. Karen Fenwick,
president of PFLAG (Parents
and Friends of Lesbians and
Gays) will be present. For di-
