He went on the March of the Living as a sopho- more and has given nearly 40 presentations about the trip. He is a member of National Honor Society, is both clarinet and sax- ophone section leader in the band and will attend George Wash- ington University. Apsel is a member of Scholars Plus, the newspaper and year- book staff, Hebrew Club and In- teract. She was a member of Central Region USY and was re- gional communications vice pres- ident this year. She is active in Michigan Jewish AIDS Coalition and the WWJ explorers group. She plans to major in communi- cations at Michigan State Uni- versity. Averbuch is editor of yearbook, Michigan-Israel Connection's "Babaganuush" and the Central Region USY newsletter. He spent a semester in Jerusalem on Project Discovery and is pres- ident of Beth Abraham Hillel Moses USY. He is a member of National Honor Society and earned a National Merit special scholarship. He will attend Washington University in St. Louis. Barr is president of National Honor Society, has performed in three school musicals and is a member of Chamber Singers and Baron Vocal Octet. He is pro- duction director and a DJ at WBFH Radio, participated in Science Olympiad, Chemistry Olympiad, Quiz Bowl and track. He plans to attend the Univer- sity of Michigan College of En- gineering. MATTHEW BASSIN Waterford Mott ELITE BEN-OZER Southfield-Lathrup AMANDA BERG Harrison JOSH BERLIN-HERMAN Harrison Berg has participated in track for four years, and placed 11th in the state last year. She is a captain of the team this year. She is a member of the Nation- al Honor Society and has held ex- ecutive positions in BBYO. She is planning to attend Lyman Briggs College at Michigan State University in the fall and will study pre-medicine. Berlin-Herman is editor of the school newspaper, treasurer of SADD, a peer mediator, mem- ber of National Honor Society and Phi Beta Kappa, and president of Adat Shalom USY, where he received the Posen Award. He marched in the Thanksgiving Parade Honor Corps and won second place in a video competition. He is a madrich in Congregation Shir Tikvah's family-education pro- gram. He is a recipient of a University of Michigan Regents- Alumni Scholarship and a William Beaumont Hospital Scholarship and plans to attend the U-M College of Engineering. Ben-Ozer is a member of Na- tional Honor Society, Phi Beta Kappa, Scholars Plus, Green Club, BBG and vice president of Interact. In tennis, she played no. 1 singles for four years, was captain, MVP, All-League, All- Area, Detroit Free Press Scholar- Athlete, and won a $5,000 Footaction USA scholarship. She will attend the University of Michigan.
