Dr. Ismar Schorsch, seminary chancellor, will present the Wolpert Meno- rah for Outstanding Achieve- ment to Rabbi Groner during the Rabbinical Assembly National Convention meeting at the Con- cord Hotel in New York State. Rabbi Groner served as pres- ident of the Rabbinical Assem- bly from 1990-1992. He is chairing the committee which is preparing a new one-volume Torah commentary being pro- duced for the Conservative Movement by the Rabbinical Assembly. Rabbi Groner has been a member of the Board of Gover- nors of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit; the Rab- binic Cabinet of the United Jew- ish Appeal; and the Board of Governors of the United Syna- gogue. Rabbi Groner was ap- pointed by Governor James Blanchard in1984 to be the first clergyman to serve on the Judi- cial Tenure Commission of Michigan and was subsequent- ly named vice chairman.
