his medical career in New York
City, publishing more than 40
research papers before he gave
up his U.S. practice to make
aliyah in 1932.
With the help of a group of
British, Arab and American
leaders representing Muslim,
Jewish and Christian faiths, Dr.
Keller helped the hospital grow
from a private office with out-
patient services to a fully func-
tional, rehabilitative center with
93 beds. Children with paralyz-
ing medical conditions and in-
juries from all over the Middle
-D East are served by this hospital.
Friends of ALYN Hospital
supports annual fund-raisers
targeted to specific needs in the
hospital.
Carrying on her family's work
in Israel, Ms. Glazier is working
hard to make an upcoming fund-
raiser a success. The Detroit
,—` chapter's benefit this year will
honor Dr. Seymour Gretchko,
the superintendent of West
Bloomfield Schools, on Thurs-
day, May 9, at the Jewish Com-
munity Center in West
Bloomfield.
"We decided to honor Dr.
Gretchko because he is a real hu-

manitarian," Ms. Glazier said.
"He has spent his career work-
ing to better the lives of children
through education."
Funds raised from the event
will benefit the hospital's com-
puter and rehabilitation tech-
nology unit. Computers,
accessories and software will
_ then be purchased and designed
to fit the needs of children who
will use the technology as tools
for communication and educa-
tion. 0
