director, David Techner is nationally
recognized for his work with parents
and their children by educating
them to the wisdom and beauty of
the Jewish response to death.

Rubin Weiss,
Radio And Comic Actor

Rubin "Rube" Weiss, 76, of Huntington
Woods, died April 25. Mr. Weiss attended
Northern High School and Wayne State Uni-
versity whre he achieved a master's degree in
English. He began acting in theater and ra-
dio in college. During World
War II, he entered the army
and became a captain.
After the war, he taught
school at Northern and acted
in many radio shows, including
"The Lone Ranger," "Challenge
of the Yukon," and "Helen
Trent." Mr. Weiss portrayed
Santa Claus in the Hudson's
Thanksgiving Day Parade for
16 years. Early in his Detroit
TV career, he appeared as a
second banana on Soupy Sales'
show on Channel 7.
Rubin Weiss
Mr. Weiss was active for
many years as an officer in the
American Federation of Television and Radio
Artists and Screen Actors Guild, serving as
president of both as well as on the national
boards. In 1984, Mr. Weiss was awarded the

board member of the City of
Hope, past president of the He-
brew Benevolent Society
(Chesed Shel Emes) and a
member of the Oddfellows.
Mr. Cooper was the beloved
husband of the late Fannie Mil-
grom Cooper and the dear
brother of the late Goldie Jack-
son and the late Louis Cooper.
