Basketry Today
The seventh annual Basketry In-
vitational at the Sybaris Gallery
runs April 27-June 1. Only inno-
vative artists — those who have
helped develop and redefine the
field through experimentation
and exploration of form and
meaning — were asked to sub-
mit their works. Many of the
artists will attend the opening re-

Curators Merry Silber and
Marilyn Henrion have arranged
a May 4-28 exhibit featuring Russ-

Light and Clarity
The works of glass artist Dan
Dailey and figurative sculptor Lu-
cio Bubacco will be the subjects of
an upcoming display at Habatat
Galleries, 7 North Saginaw, Pon-
tiac. A reception to meet the artists
will open the show at 7:30 p.m. Fri-
day, May 10. The glass vessels,
lamps and other works will stay

The Place
Michigan has been the working
place for painter Jennifer Reeves,
whose "The Place Series" will be
shown May 3-June 15 at the Alexa
Lee Gallery, 201 Nickels Arcade,
Ann Arbor. After growing up in
Birmingham, Reeves lived and
worked in New York and Paris be-
fore returning to her home state
two years ago. An opening recep-
tion is 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 3.

An exhibit and sale of furniture, lighting and ac-
cessories forged from metal runs through May 18 at
the Detroit Gallery of Contemporary Crafts in the
