Faye Ullmann As President

gan Branch on Sunday, May 5,
at Shaarey Zedek - B'nai Israel
Center.
Ms. Ullmann is a past
president of the Congregation
Shaarey Zedek Sisterhood and
is a national board member for
Women's League.
Other officers being installed

ol Tarica; treasurer: Bernice

The installation banquet will
be held at 6 p.m. and will feature
national consultant Gloria Co-
hen, who will deliver her keynote
address on "Don't Underestimate
the Power of One."
The conference will take place
on Sunday, May 5, at Shaarey
Zedek - B'nai Israel Center and
Monday, May 6, at Congrega-
tion Shaarey Zedek, Southfield,
and will feature workshops,
Torah study and Torah Fund
presentations. The conference
is open to all sisterhood mem-
bers free of charge.
Reservations are required
and there is a charge for meals.

ongregation B'nai Moshe
will host "Learn, Sing and
Celebrate" at a Jewish
Music Shabbat, honoring
the memory of Rabbi Moses
Lehrman, on May 10 and 11.
Rabbi Morton Leifman, vice
president of the Jewish Theolog-
ical Seminary and dean of the
Cantors Institute-Seminary Col-
lege of Jewish Music, will be syn-
agogue scholar in residence.
On Friday, May 10, there will
be a Kabbalst Shabbat service at
6 p.m., followed by dinner and a
study session with Rabbi Leif-
man on the theme "Music in Jew-
ish Liturgy: An Overview." Child
care will be available during the
adult study time.
On Shabbat morning, May 11,
Rabbi Leifman will speak at ser-
vices on "Emotion, Prayer, and
the Intellect: The Hazzan and
America." B'nai Moshe's regular
Shabbat morning child care pro-
gram, "Shabbat Shelanu (Our
Shabbat)," will provide super-
vised activities for children age
2 to 4 during services.
Immediately following kiddush,
there will be a lunch and learn with
Rabbi Leifman on "Ashkenasim,
Sephardim, and Yemenites: Mu-
sic and Other Things." Child care
will be available during the study
session.
On Saturday night from 7 to 11
p.m. there will be a melava
malkah for adults only, featuring
Minchah, dinner, and learning
with Rabbi Leifman on "Yiddish
and Hebrew Poetry: Musical Set-
tings." At the conclusion of this
study session, participants will
celebrate Havdalah, followed by
a dessert reception and Israeli
dancing taught by Lonnie and
Mira Sussman of Ann Arbor.
There is a charge for Shabbat
dinner, Shabbat lunch, and the
melava malkah, and reservations
are required by May 6. Rabbi Leif-
man's study sessions on Friday
night, Saturday morning and Sat-
urday afternoon are free of charge.
