Society Plans
Memorial Tour

The Jewish Historical Society's
Leonard N. Simons Memorial
Tour will begin at the Detroit
Historical Museum on Sunday,
April 28. A docent-led tour of the
"Motor City Exhibition," cele-
brating 100 years of the auto-
mobile in Detroit, will begin at 1
p.m. In addition, the Jewish role
in automotive history will also
be discussed. A mini-reception
and stroll down the Leonard N.
Simons' "Streets of Old Detroit"
will follow.
The trip will also include a vis-
it to the Leonard N. Simons
Room in the Purdy/Kresge Li-
brary at Wayne State Universi-
ty, home to Simons' collection of
more than 2,000 books and maps
on Detroit and Michigan histo-
ry. The final stops are drive-bys
of the Reuther Library of Wayne
State University, housing the
Jewish Community Archives
and the Leonard N. Simons
Wayne State University Press
Building.

Bais Chabad Torah Center of
West Bloomfield will inaugurate
a new father/children learning=\
program on Wednesday nights
from 7:30 to 9 p.m. The program
will offer fathers an opportuni-
ty to study and review with a
son or daughter the Torah stud-
ies that the children have cov-
ered in school for the week.
Rabbi Elimelech Silberberg will
direct the program. Non-mem- L-\
bers are invited.
The Shabbat Women's Learn-
ing Group will take place on
Shabbat, April 27, at 5 p.m. at
the home of Rivka Schochet,

at the Applebaum Parenting

Goss will teach how to make a
challah for Shabbat. Call ahead
to reserve challah dough.
Healthy Moms, Happy Babies
is an exercise class for moms
with babies up to one year old.
Bring a blanket April 30 from 10-
11 a.m. Baby-sitting is available
by reservation.
Sense of Shabbat is a new pro-
gram for moms and children.
Drop in May 3, from 10-11 a.m.
There is no fee for this class.
Kitchen Table is a morning
class for moms and their babies,

Yom Ha'tzma'ut Bar-B-Q on
Sunday, April 28, 4-7 p.m. at
Oak Park Park, at the Church
and Northfield Pavilion.
Special guests will be the four
Jerusalem Boyer High School
students, Sagi, Shai, Daniella,-
and Smadar, who will join the
Israeli-style program with songs
and stories. The program will
include activities for children
age 8-15 and adults.
Hot-dogs and pop will be pro-
vided. Bring a dish as a part of
a potluck dinner.
