`City Of Gold 3000'
Will Salute Jerusalem

In recognition of the 3000th an-
niversary of Jerusalem as the
capital of the Jewish people, Adat
Shalom Synagogue will host
"City of Gold 3000," a musical
salute to Jerusalem.
The 8 p.m. Wednesday, May
1, concert will celebrate
Jerusalem with traditional, folk
and popular songs. Interwoven
will be stories about the city.
Dov Keren, Sandra Ben-Dor
and"Raphael Frieder will be fea-
tured with Hebrew, English, Yid-

dish and Ladino songs. Ronn
Yedidia is the group's musical di-
rector.
The Adat Shalom Youth
Choir, under the direction
of Michelle Rott, will open
the evening with a short pro-
gram.
There is no charge for the
evening. Tickets may be obtained
at Adat Shalom. There is a limit
of six tickets per family. For in-

Music Club
Hosts Critic

John Guinn, music critic, lec-
turer, writer, arts consultant
and WQRS-FM radio commen-
tator, will be featured by the
Music Study Club on Tuesday,
April 23, at 1 p.m. at the Birm-
ingham Temple. His subject
will be "Whither Music in the
21st Century?"
Holding bachelor and mas-
ter of arts degrees from Notre
Dame, Mr. Guinn taught at the
IJniversity of Detroit, served as
department chair and is ad
junct professor of music at
Wayne State University.
As music critic at the Detroit
Free Press, he won its Club
Foundation Award for distin-
guished coverage of fine
arts three times. For 10 years,
his "John Guinn's Musical
Notes" lectures previewed
Michigan Opera Theater per-
fat mances.
