The Agency for Jewish Education
Community Library will host
Literary Journeys, a free biweek-
ly discussion group on themes of
short-story literature.
The discussion group meets on
Thursday evenings from 7:30 to
9 p.m. in the AJE Library, 21550
W. 12 Mile Road, Southfield. Fu-
ture story discussions will in-
clude: April 18, "Bridging" by
Max Apple; May 2, "The Name"
by Aharon Megged; May 16, "In
Agrippa's Vineyard" by Saul Tch-
ernichovsky; June 6, "Mr. Kaplan
and the Magi" by Leo Rosten; and
June 20, "Angel Levine" by
Bernard Malamud.

Operetta Evening
At JPM JCCenter

An operetta evening, featuring
award-winning artists from the
former Soviet Union, soprano
Zoya Ivanova and baritone
Georgiy Greener, will take place
8 p.m. Saturday, April 20, in Jaffe
Hall at the Jewish Community
Center's Jimmy Prentis Morris
building.
Mr. Greener, awarded the ti-
tle of "Honored Artist of Russia,"
spent eight years at the Saratov
Opera Theatre, had leading roles
at the Moscow Operetta Theatre
and was a vocalist instructor.
Featured on Russian television
Ms. Ivanova, awarded the high-
est honor for an artist in Russia
titled the "People's Artist of Rus-
sia," was a leading soloist at the
Moscow Operetta Theatre and a
vocal instructor.
The evening will include a va-
riety of arias and duets from pop-
ular operettas by Kaman, Lenar,
Kraus and Dunayevsky, old
Russian romances and Ukranian
songs. Emma Maydanchik will
accompany.
There is a charge for the pro-

Esser, Bredius
In Concert

Phil Marcus Esser and Barbara
Bredius will join voices at the
Birmingham Temple on Sunday,
April 21, at 7:30 p.m. Their pro-
gram will feature selections
from "Jacques Brel," folk and la-
bor songs, and the love songs. An
afterglow with performers will
follow.
Admissions: $14 general; $12

Space Plans
Support Groups

Space, a community service of
National Council of Jewish
Women/Greater Detroit Section,
will sponsor the following sup-
port groups:
Space will hold the Monday
Evening Divorce/Separation Sup-
port Groups, Level 1 (Shock of di-
vorce), Level 2 (going through the
divorce process) and Level 3
(Moving-On). The groups will be
held at the Space office, 30233
Southfield, Suite 100, from 7:30-
9:30 p.m. Pre-registration is nec-
essary and the donation is $3 per

Rainbows For All Children, a
10-week divorce support group
presented by Space, is for chil-
dren from 5-15-years-old and
their custodial parent. It will
begin on April 17 at 6 p.m. and
continue until June 19. The
donation for the group is $35
per child for the 10-week group.
This fee includes the parent
education group. Funding avail-
able. Pre-registration is required.
