Then, playing a strong zone
defense and led by Jeff Ruiz with
19 second-half points and a 29-
point game total, Brotherhood V
surged to a 14-point lead with
two minutes left in the game.
Downtown-Fox was not
through, however. The team
fought back to within six points
with 45 seconds to go, but could
get no closer. High scorers for
Downtown-Fox were Dave Papp,
18 points, and Matt Chasnick, 13
points.

at Michigan State Univer-
sity from West Bloomfield,
finished fifth in giant
slalom and sixth in slalom at the
U.S. Collegiate Ski Association's
national championships March
7 at Mt. Snow, Vt.
Glass helped the Spartans to
a 13th-place finish in slalom and
16th in giant slalom. Michigan
State is the only club team to
compete at the nationals the last
two years. The team won divi-
sional competition both years,
competing against nine schools
from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana
and Illinois.
Glass, a political economics
major, served as team treasurer
and organized several fund-rais-
ing events and sponsorships to
support the club.

eral swim meets last
month, representing the
Sports Club.
Adam, age 12, competed in
the U.S. Swimming-Michigan
12-and-under championships at
Rockford and placed third in the
200-yard individual medley,
2:20.04; first in the 100 IM,
1:04.74; fourth in the 500
freestyle, 5:40.93, fourth in the
50, 26.05; second in the 100 but-
terfly, 1:03.58; third in the 50
fly, 29.35; second in the 50
breast, 32.33. Adam also swam
on a 200 medley relay team that
placed first in 1:56.11.

Sister Shayna, 8, swam in 200
medley and 200 freestyle relays
for 10-and-under girls.
At the Swim Festival in Livo-
nia, Shayna swam the 25 free in
15.93; 50 free, 35.74; 100 free,
1:25.99; 25 back, 21.01; 25
breast, 22.28; 50 breast, 48.68;
25 fly, 17.65; 50 fly, 41.19; 100
IM, 1:22.59.
Cheri Farber, 15, swam at
the USSM I3-and-up champi-
onships. In addition to relays,
she recorded a 25.45 in the
50 free; 57.69, 100 free; 1:02.27,
100 back; 2:18.43, 200 back;
1:15.86, 100 breast; and 1:03.72,
100 fly.
