Douglas Bloom, president of the Jewish Community Centers of Metropolitan
Detroit, accepts a $2,000 check from Matt Thomas, manager of the new
Southfield Target store in Northland Mall. The check is part of a $4,500 gift which
will fund inter-generational and cultural programs for the remainder of 1996 and
part of 1997 at the Jimmy Prentis Morris Jewish Community Center in Oak Park.

The Metro Detroit Israel Bonds Women's Division recently held its opening
board meeting. Shown are Rochelle Lieberman, immediate past chairwoman;
Linda Hayman; Sandra Dembs, sponsor event chairwoman; Paula Glazier,
associate chairwoman; and Barbara Stollman, past local and national
chairwoman.

Michigan Region AZM(MI) will
host the 1996 Scholar in Residence
Program from April 14 to 29.
The scholar this year will be Dr.
Yosef Goell, political columist, ed-
itorial writer and feature writer
for the Jerusalem Post. Dr. Goell
also has been desk editor and eco-
nomic, political and
parliamentary cor-
respondent at the
paper.

aliyah in 1948. He
received his bache-
