—0, f you are having trouble find-
ing your favorite soft drink this
Passover — any soft drink —
Pepsi Cola would like to apolo-
gize.
Pepsi's regional office in Troy
had to pull 10,000 cases — 80,000
two-liter bottles — of kosher-for-
Passover Pepsi and diet Pepsi out
D of Michigan.
According to Cathy Studnicki,
administrative assistant in Pep-
si's Troy sales office, a bottling
plant in Twinsburg, Ohio, ran
afoul of Michigan's bottle deposit
law. The Passover products did
not have the proper universal
product codes "and by law we
,---- ' couldn't sell them in Michigan."
I
Ms. Studnicki said the region-
al office places its order for the spe-
cially labeled and supervised
bottles at the end of January.
"When they came in wrong, we
didn't have time to correct the
problem," she said.
The few that reached store
\—_, shelves do not have the proper
UPC code for the customer-oper-
'
ated bottle return machines used
at larger supermarkets.
The lack of Pepsi supplies has
caused a run on other kosher-for-
Passover soft drinks.
