Good Night Sleep...

ed keen observer recently cele-
brated his 2,000th segment. In
all the years, he has never
missed an episode, Maariv re-
ports.
While he constantly looks for
a new place to explore, a new
angle to examine, a new detail
to unearth, Mr. Alon has come
to the conclusion that Israel's
landscape is the one thing
that has not changed in this
country over the years, he told

Maariv.

/–

"We have to differentiate be-
tween the country, the political
reality and things that have
gone wrong on the way," he told
Maariv. "The land, the valleys,
the mountains, the living crea-
tures and the history all stayed
the same — and forever will re-
main so. Only man has
changed."
Mr. Alon has changed. In the
last six years, he has gone from
being a strong supporter of
greater Israel to an advocate of
trading land for peace, he told

Maariv.

But one thing has not changed
— his love for Israel and his abil-
ity to captivate others with his
enthusiasm for the landscape.

Rude Awakening

Tel Aviv's Kikar Hamedina
can compete with Palm Beach's
Worth Avenue in selection (Don-
na Karan, Calvin Klein), style
(only the latest) and prices (ex-
pensive).
But there are two distinct dif-
ferences between the two shop-
ping areas — Kikar Hamedina
is a circle, not an avenue, and
the service there is terrible, ac-
cording to Yediot Aharonot.
"Store clerks were eating and
talking on the telephone," Yediot
Aharonot reports. "They were
busy with activities that clerks
in Madison Avenue in New York
or high fashion shops in Paris
would never allow themselves
during working hours."

A Role Model?

Israel's biggest star is not
a singer, soccer player, politi-
cian or actor. Lior Miller is a
model.
The male model who stars in
"Ramat Aviv 3," an Israeli take-
off of "Beverly Hills 90210," re-
ceives up to 200 letters a week.
Most of them come from admir-
ing teen-age girls, according to

Maariv.

Some of the girls let their ad-
miration take over their senses.
One girl wrote, "The truth is that
I really do not like Yael Bar-
Yohar [Mr. Miller's co-star on
the show] and I am very jealous
of her. The first time I saw 'Ra-
mat Aviv 3' I wanted to commit
suicide because you kissed her,
but then I understood that this
is just a show."
Another girl wrote, "I love you
very, very much, Lior, you are
my god." LI
