POETRY OF LOVE

Lancome cosmetics is sponsor-
ing the "Poeme Poetry of Love
Competition." Grand prizes in-
clude a $15,000 trip, a $10,000 sav-
ings bond and a host of other
prizes. The national contest is
sponsored in honor of the arrival
of Poeme, Lancome's new women's
fragrance. The three age cate-
gories are 7-11, 12-17 and 18 and
older. Each entry must be origi-
nal and unpublished and on the
topic of love. "We hope the Poeme
Poetry of Love Competition will
inspire people — especially stu-
dents — to try their hand at cre-
ating a poem on the universal
subject of love. Their submission
will benefit RIF's ongoing efforts
to promote children's literacy, so
that others can understand and
enjoy the written word," said
Daniel Halpern a poet and con-
test judge. All entries must be re-
ceived by June 7, 1996. To enter
the competition, call 1-800-797-
