Bottle and Basket Shoppe at 15 Mile and Tele- graph roads in Bloomfield Township boasts over 200 bot- tles of kosher wine, from Yarden to Hagafan to Furst to Herzog to Excelsior, a French Bordeaux. Store man- ager Al Eichler said, includ- ing the Mogen David, Kedem and Carmel, prices range from S4 to $20. Kroger carries a limited se- lection of kosher wines, about five or six varieties at its store at 14 Mile and Fannin gton roads in West Bloomfield. Some 15 Farmer Jack out- lets carry kosher wines like Kedem, Herzog, Mogen David, Manischewitz and Fortant, of- fering them for as low as two bottles for $5. The most ex- pensive wine is a Kedem Mala- ga for $7.49. Cronin's Party Store on Northwestern Highway, north of 12 Mile Road, carries three varieties of kosher wines, all from California. However, the only kind with a bit of panache is the Weinstock, which own- er Jim Cronin said is "as good as any other good California wine." He has a few cases in stock, and bottles run between $7 and $10. Cronin's also car- ries the usual suspects — Ke- dem and Manischewitz. Sam's Market on 11 Mile Road in Huntington Woods has about 40 bottles of kosher wines, including varieties from Carmel, Manischewitz and Mogen David. But the store also carries a Pinot Noir from France and Ararat brandy from Israel that goes for $20 for a fifth. The wines range in price from $2.99 to $15. Nino Salvaggio's Straw- berry Hills in Farmington Hills carries roughly 20 vari- eties of kosher wines that range in price from $6 for two bottles to $10.99. Wine buyer Ron Papuga said he just got in about 50 cases of wine from Is- rael, New York State and France, including a new kosher Beaujolais for $7.99 a bottle. Cases are sold at a discount. Finally, Vic's Quality Fruit Market at 13 Mile and Southfield roads in Beverly Hills stocks around 10 vari- eties of kosher wines, includ- ing Mogen David, that range in price from $2.50 to $16.
