The Most Exciting Musical Entertainment

xperts say the more time
and information you can
give to your photographer
or videographer, the more
pleased you will be with your
photos and videos of your event.
If an event is being held at the
synagogue, are there restrictions
as to where and when pho-
tographs or videos can be taken?
The party host should decide
in advance where and when fam-
ily shots should be taken, who

E

will be part of those shots, and
notify the photographers/video-
graphers in writing and notify the
family members of the approxi-
mate time schedule.
Specific events within the cel-
ebration should be discussed,
as well as what other items
should be included: shots of each
table, the entertainment, etc.,
and how obtrusive or unobtru-
sive you desire the photograph-
er to be. ❑

Holy Matrimony

he idea of marriage as holy
and mystical, and of God
participating in it, has cre-
ated charming legends.
It is said when souls are creat-
ed in heaven, an angel cries: This
boy for that girl!" Marriage re-
unites the male and female as-
pects of one soul, according to
the Zohar.
Arranging marriages was con-
sidered a sacred matter. The
union of two souls and the agree-
ment to have children and raise
them as Jews was part of Israel's

I

obligation in its compact with
God.
God was considered the
supreme matchmaker. But the
professional matchmaker of old
performed an important function,
gathering information about eli-
gible individuals in far-removed
villages, trying to match family
standing and pedigree, weighing
qualities that might strengthen
compatibility. ❑
