Now, after years of trying to woo the governor into incorpo- rating a trip into his schedule, plans for an Israel visit are im- minent. Although a date has not been selected, a spokesperson from the governor's office said Gov. Engler is definitely planning a visit. "At the advice of (Jewish Re- publican activist) Max Fisher, we will not pick a date until af- ter the Israeli election," said Gov. John Engler: Israel-bound. John Truscott, Gov. Citing a lack of opportunities, both locally and nationally, for American Jews to show their grief, the local group has sched- uled three speakers at the 10:30 a.m. rally at Adat Shalom Syn- agogue. La'Asot officers Asher Tilchin and Berl Falbaum will speak, along with Adat Shalom's Rabbi Efry Spectre, who re- turned from Israel on Wednes- day. "We want to express our grief for the victims and their fami- lies," Mr. Falbaum said, "and we want to show our uncom- promising support for Israel. This is not a political rally for any of the Israeli political par- ties." Rabbi Spectre will discuss the mood of Israelis in the wake of the terrorist attacks. ❑
