Benjamin Elias Irwin, son of
Nancy Magnus Irwin, celebrat-
ed his bar mitzvah on Jan. 6, at
Congregation Beth El in La Jol-
la, Calif. Rabbi Richard Freund
officiated.
Freda Magnus, Ben's mater-
nal grandmother from West
Bloomfield, presented Ben with
his tallit.
Ben led the Friday night ser-
vice with his aunt and uncle, Bet-
ty and Larry Steiner from West
Bloomfield, his cousin, Alissa
Steiner from Phoenix, his grand-
mother Peggy Irwin of Studio
City, Calif. on the bimah.
A luncheon in Ben's honor fol-
lowed the service at the
L'Auberge Resort and Spa in Del
Mar, Calif.
Ben is a seventh grader at Earl
Warren Jr. High School in
Solana Beach. His interests in-
clude football, tennis, computers
and acting.
