BBYO Plans
For Youth
The weekend of March 8-10 is
the final three days of BBYO on
Display. The community is wel-
come to view the exhibit at the
Maple-Drake JCC during nor-
mal open hours.
On Sunday afternoon, March
10, Michigan Region BBYO will
hold the Membership Open
House for eighth and ninth
graders who are interested in
joining BBYO, and a parent ori-
entation for parents of high
school youth. The program will
be held at Maple-Drake 2-4 p.m.
During this same afternoon, AZA
Basketball, 4:30-6:30 p.m., and
BBG Mind, Body, Attitude, 3-4
p.m. will continue at Maple-
Drake.
On Saturday evening, March
16, Marx AZA will sponsor a '50s
Counter Culture Dance at
Maple-Drake, 8 p.m. The
evening is a traditional 1950s
sock hop and a 1950s coffee shop
with poetry reading and spoken
word. There is a $5 admission
charge. The chairs of the event
are Josh Hearshen and Scott
Adelman. All Jewish high school
youth are welcome to attend.

This year Jerusalem will commemorate its Trimillennium, marking
3000 years since King David formally established this hilltop as the
capital of ancient Israel and religious center of the Jewish people.

To Enter: All work must be received by noon Monday, April 8 at The Jewish Community Center, 6600 West Maple Rd., West Bloomfield, MI 48322.
Each entry must have the artist or writer's name, address and telephone number with age category attached to the back of the entry.
Materials: Art entries may utilize crayons, paper, markers, charcoal, etc. on a white background. Art entries must be on 8 1/2 x 11" paper.
Essays or poems should be limited to one page, preferably typed. Categories: up to age 6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-16, 16 through adult.
GRAND PRIZE:
One year JCC fitness and family membership for the
winner and his/her family.
Picture/essay to be reprinted in the 1996 Book Fair brochure.
FIRST PRIZE:
Set of 4 tickets for the entire 1996-97 Encore
Entertainment Series for all categories..

The Youth Department of Con-
gregation Beth Achim will hold
its annual Purim Carnival on
Sunday, March 10, from 11:15
a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the syna-
gogue. There is a charge for the
raffle and game tickets. Advance
tickets are available in the syn-
