Andiamo Italia West.
Also being renamed is owner
Joe Vicari's Lido On The Lake,
which will be called Andiamo
Lakefront Bistro ... It is closed
for an inside and outside re-
modeling job to the tune of
$400,000.
Joe is renaming all his upscale
restaurants with the Andiamo
title ..-. Andiamo Italia, Tratto-
ria Andiamo, Andiamo Italia
West and Andiamo Lakefront
Bistro.

Florida. Wyn still sings and we
are both involved in theater here
and at home with Southfield's
WSRO Productions.

we have been invited to be par-

DINING ROOM redecorat-
ing has been completed by
Nifty's in Wolverine Lake ... Silk
floral arrangements have been
done by owner Debbie Miesel in
a brightness that has been
achieved without hampering its
intimate atmosphere.
Framed rare wine labels from
Chef Rick Vogel's collection are
among the creative pieces ... Also
a menu that includes delicate
dishes like breast of chicken
sauteed in Amaretto, with
cashews and fresh strawberries,
served over cheese tortellini
plus a variety from Southwest-
ern fare to gourmet American
entrees.
THE NORTHWEST plane to
Atlanta was an hour on the
ground at Metro Airport being
de-iced ... It finally took off from
the Detroit area, leaving the
snow and cold behind.
When our plane landed in At-
lanta, there was no de-icing, but
guess what ... more snow and
cold.
The duration of my weekend
stay in Atlanta was a cold one ...
Lucky I had a coat with me.
The restaurants in Atlanta
still seem so far to get to ... and
strangely crowded ... Don't know
if they're with customer turnover
or people sitting at tables taking
up valuable space while sipping
on cups of coffee.
Having lunch with Dan
Chovanec, Atlanta Jewish Times
publisher, is always a pleasure
... We went to the Snack 'n Shop
restaurant again, usually fre-
quented by many Jewish com-
munal notables, and I had a
pretty good veggie omelet ... Dan
joined others there in having a
deli sandwich.
The next day was a visit to an-
other Atlanta deli ... Sonny's Deli
on Roswell Road in Sandy
Springs is owned by a former Is-
raeli Green Beret soldier of the
1967 combats along the Golan
Heights ... It is clean, with both
deli and Middle Eastern fa-
vorites served.
Dinner that evening was at a
fine restaurant soon to celebrate
its first anniversary ... but this
night was for Brenda Zucker-
man's (Steve) birthday candle
blowing-out.
The long drive was worth it to
enjoy a choice piece of trout at
the Cabin restaurant, rated
among the best in Atlanta for
steaks and seafood.
It is located in a home built in
the 1880s ... Only flaw in the
meal was the Cabin waitress
reading specials from a card ...
Too bad, because she was other-
wise most gracious and efficient.
BAGELS ARE the most ex-
plosive food concept sweeping
the country ... Chains seem to be
springing up all over.
However, local favorites like
Detroit Bagel, New York Bagel,
Brothers Bagels, etc., are far
from panicking ... Richard
Steinik of Detroit Bagel says that
savoring the competition's out-
of-state product makes theirs
look and taste even better. ❑
