Tzedakah Event
At Beth EL

Michigan BBYO Board coordi-
nator for the exhibit is Vice-
Chairman Ilene Lubin.

Fifth graders and their parents
are invited to learn about the im-
portance of helping others at the
ninth annual Tzedakah Experi-
ence 9:30 a.m. - noon, Sunday,
March 17, at Temple Beth El in
Birmingham.
The event is co-sponsored by
Temple Beth El, Women's Divi-
sion of the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit, Agency for
Jewish Education's Department
of School Services - Jewish Ex-
periences for Families, Jewish
Educators' Council and The Jew-
ish News. Corporate sponsors in-
clude NBD Bank and Scrubs.
Hands-on activities for parents
and children alike will explain
how area agencies are providing
programs and services to assist
the elderly, physically or men-
tally disabled and the hungry.
One component of the event
will be the Penny Harvest. Stu-
dents in all participating day and
religious schools in the metro-
politan Detroit area will collect
pennies and loose change to be
donated to the participating non-
profit agencies at the Tzedakah
Experience. All the monies will
be allocated by the students af-
ter the event.

Purim Fun

Camp Tavor of Habonim Dror
will hold an informational public
meeting at Orchard Lake Bor-
ders Book Shop, March 3, noon -
2 p.m. The program will include
a video and slide presentation by
Camp Tavor Registrar and meet-
ing with the shaliach.
Refreshments will be served.

Open House

BBYO Plans
Week Of Events

Michigan Region BBYO will host
a membership Open House on
Sunday, March 10, at the Maple-
Drake JCC, from 2-4p.m. All
Jewish Teens are invited.
The program will feature
youth-led presentations on the
facets of and opportunities avail-
able in BBYO. Chapters from
throughout the metropolitan area
will offer information booths.Co-
ordinators for the membership
Open House are Sheri Schiff of
the BBYO Board and Scott
Schwartz and Elyse Stettner,
AZA and BBG membership vice
presidents.
A parent Orientation Program
will take place in the Janice
Charach Epstein Gallery at the
JCC. Parents will hear presen-
tations from Dr. Linda Bolton,
a past international president of
BBG, Arnold J. Weiner, the
Michigan Region BBYO director,
and the current international
youth presidents, Corey Stern
and Laura Podolsky. Refresh-
ments will follow the program.
Coordinator for the Parent Ori-
entation is Adrienne Sweet.
The Membership Open House
and Parent Orientation conclude
programs of the "BBYO on Dis-
play" exhibit that will run from
March 1-10 at Maple/Drake.

Michigan Region B'nai B'rith
Youth Organization will open its
exhibit at the Maple-Drake JCC.
On Saturday evening, March
2, Ahavah BBG will sponsor the
annual Mr. AZA Pageant, 7:30
p.m., at Maple-Drake. There is a
$5 admission charge.
Michigan Region BBYO will
hold the Advisor Recognition and
Youth Talent Showcase, Sunday
night, March 3,7 p.m. at Maple-
Drake.
During the afternoon of March
3, AZA Basketball and BBG
Mind, Body, Attitude League will
continue their programs. On
Tuesday night, March 5, AZA
and BBG will hold their council
meetings, 7 p.m. at Maple-Drake.

Congregation Shaarey Zedek
United Synagogue Youth will
host its annual Purim carnival
on Sunday, March 10, from 11am
- 1:30 pm
Congregation Shaarey Zedek
and B'nai Israel Center will have
a Purim extravaganza on March
4, at 6:30 at Southfield location.
At 7 p.m., the Mimical
Megillah reading with mime Rob
Reider will begin .Young children
will participate in a costume pa-
rade and an afterglow.
From 8-9 p.m., grades 3-5 will
have a games night.
Grades 5-12 will have an ice
cream social.

U-M Hillel
Israeli Dancing

Israeli Dancing will be held Sun-
day, March 3, from 7:30 - 10 p.m.
at Hillel. The first 45 minutes will
be specifically for beginners, and
the rest of the session is open to
all. Cost is $2.50.
