In both cases, the loans were made to enable the borrower to make a living and provide for his family.
Both loans were interest-free. Both were paid as agreed. The mode of travel has changed dramatically
in 100 years. But the essence of our organization is still the same: To help people to help themselves.

weight class, which meant he
was thrown into varsity match-
es immediately.
"He learned a lot about him-
self," said Coach Bruce Burwitz.
"It takes a lot to go out there and
get demolished time after time
after time. He had to keep telling
himself, 'I'm not going to take
that and I'm going to improve."'
He improved with a
vengeance. By his sophomore
year, Mr. Kobernick was the
most improved wrestler on the
team, posting a 22-14 record and
qualifying for the state regional
tournament.
As ajunior, he improved to 33-
17, was named all-league and all-
area and was one of the top 16
wrestlers in the state in the 112-
pound weight class.
This year, wrestling at 119
pounds, Mr. Kobernick aims to
go further at the state level, both
individually and with his team,
which at 14-1 has an impressive
record of its own.
"You can see his thinking
process out on the mat," said his
coach. "He's always aware of
what is going on and what the sit-
uation is. He is very mat smart."
As a co-captain, Mr. Kobernick
said he hopes he has been a pos-
itive influence on some of his
younger teammates. He recalls
all too well what it felt like to be
inexperienced, overwhelmed and
overmatched. "I know what they
are going through," he said. ❑
