equation, namely women, got no
thrill from this concept. Despite
all his study of romance, he
admits, "This was a little sur-
prising."
But others seem charmed by
such a sexually aggressive mar-
keting strategy. He is pleased
that the first week on the mar-
ket, he received eager calls from
Playgirl magazine, two male-ori-
ented catalogs and a tabloid TV
show.
He plans to market Hypnosex
himself, at first, through a toll-
free line and a nonrefundable fee.
Satisfaction, it seems, is not guar-
anteed. 0

opposite forces are at play: He
wants listeners to relax and let
the unconscious part of their
minds do all the work.
Certainly the tapes are as non-
graphic as you can get, filled with
the sounds of chirping birds and
waterfalls. And, with Mr. Grold
coaxing his listeners to imagine
such things as a barking puppy
or a stick of butter melting in the
sun.
But he is far from passive
when it comes to marketing Hyp-

"You've heard of power walk-
ing, power lunches? Now we have
power sex, " proclaims Mr. Grold
