A committee of JCC and Fed-
eration leaders is overseeing the
project. The committee is now
in the process of deciding on a
designer/architect. A decision is
expected within the next month.
This is the second capital-
needs campaign undertaken by
the Center in the last five years.
In 1991, the JCC embarked on
a $4 million campaign for its
Jimmy Prentis Morris building
in Oak Park. The agency added
an indoor pool, recreational fa-
cilities, equipment and in-
creased its programming.
From that $4 million, $1.5
million was placed in an en-
dowment to support programs
within the building.
Although the new campaign
is just under way, Dr. Plotnick
said some donors have already
made financial commitments.
He would not disclose how much
money the Center has secured.
"I'd like to hold off on the lev-
el of money raised. Let's just say
things are going well," Dr. Plot-
nick said. ❑
