For Israeli Electorate

LISA DINES SPECIAL TO THE JEWISH NEWS

En

ark Rosenblum called
the recent Palestinian
election a limited suc-
cess.
Mr. Rosenblum, an official ob-
server of the January elections
and founder and political director
for Americans for Peace Now, ad-
dressed the Ann Arbor chapter of
Americans for Peace Now on Sun-
day, Feb. 11. He urged Americans
to remain vigilant in monitoring
the Mideast situation.

Participation was extremely
high in this first election, he said,
and voters were able to choose
from a wide range of candidates.
"I must say, warts and all, and
there were many warts ... it was
far fairer and freer than anyone
expected."

ble Palestinians registered to vote,
and more than 80 percent actual-
ly cast their ballots on election day.
Of the 88 seats, Mr. Rosenblum
