Adat Shalom
Learner Service

Adat Shalom synagogue's month-
ly learners' service, led by Rabbi
Daniel Nevins, will take place
from 10:45 a.m. to noon on Shab-
bat morning, Feb. 10. During this
service, participants will learn
about the history, structure and
music of the Shabbat morning
service. It is geared toward those
who are unfamiliar with the Sid-
dur.
Adults are encouraged to bring
their youngsters to the synagogue
that morning – children (2-1/2
and older) are welcome to attend
the congregation's weekly chil-
dren's services, which begin at
10:30 a.m.

Is Palestinian
An Iranian Spy?

Jerusalem (JTA) — Israeli secu-
rity forces arrested a Palestinian
from the West Bank on suspicion
of spying for Iran.
Mohammed Raj ab Salameh
Mohammed, 44, was accused of
providing Iran with maps on
which he marked security instal-
lations and government offices.
Mr. Mohammed, who is from
the village of Beit Jala, near Beth-
lehem, has a doctorate in philos-
ophy from Beirut University. He
has also lived in Lebanon, Syria
and Jordan.
Mr. Mohammed confessed that
he was recruited a year ago to
work for Iranian intelligence by
the Iranian Embassy in Jordan,
according to an Israel Defense
Force statement.
In addition to spying in Israel,
Mr. Mohammed said he had
agreed to gather information in
Jordan.
He was instructed to photo-
graph different sites in Israel.
The statement said his inter-
rogation is continuing.
In August, an Israeli court
charged an Iranian-born Israeli,
Herzl Rad, with spying for
Tehran. Mr. Rad denied the alle-
gations.
Proceedings against him are
still under way."
