Plans Classes
The Agency for Jewish Educa-
tion's Midrasha Center for Adult
Jewish Learning will present
"Inside the Rabbinic Mind" and
"Who is Wise? Insights from
Pirkei Avot," taught by Rabbi
Rod Glogower. "Inside the Rab-
binic Mind", a seminar, will con-
sist of 12 sessions held on
Tuesdays from Feb. 13 to May
21, from 10:30 a.m. to noon and
from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
"Who is Wise?" is a compendi-
um of Mishnaic material; it will
also consist of 12 sessions held on
Wednesdays from Feb. 14 to May
15, from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
Both seminars will be held at
the Agency Jewish Education,
21550 W. 12 Mile Rd. Southfield
and require a tuition of $144. To

Gabrielle Boccaccini, an expert
on Christian and rabbinic ori-
gins, will present two free lec-
tures on the subject Thursday,
Feb. 15, at St. Ives Catholic
Church in Southfield.
The topic at 4 p.m. will be "Be-
fore the Mishnah: Rabbinism in
the Making." At 7:30 p.m. Pro-
fessor Boccaccini will discuss
"We Are Twins: the Birth of
Christianity and Rabbinism
from First Century Judaism."
A native of Italy, Professor
Boccaccini has a doctoral degree
in Judaic studies from the Uni-
versity of Turin in addition to
master's and bachelor's degrees
in early church history from the
University of Florence.
He is an adjunct associate pro-
fessor in the Near Eastern Stud-
ies department at the University
of Michigan.
The lectures are open to the
public. They are sponsored by
the Cohn-Haddow Center for Ju-
daic Studies at Wayne State
University, the Ecumenical In-
stitute for Jewish-Christian
Studies and the Archdiocese of
Detroit.

The Men's Club of Congregation
B'nai Moshe will have a work-
shop at the synagogue on Sun-
day, Feb. 11, at 10 a.m. on how
to hook up to the Internet, get an
account, use e-mail, cruise cy-
berspace and the World Wide
Web. Advance registration is re-
quired.

Dinner Program
Forging a strong mother and
daughter relationship and the
importance of those roles will be
discussed by Dr. Judith A. Ko-
vach 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27,
at Congregation Shaarey Zedek.
"Mothers and Daughters: Is-
sues, Struggles and Rewards" is
a Jewish Federation of Metro-
politan Detroit Business and Pro-
fessional Women's Division
dinner program.
Dr. Kovach is a clinical psy-
chologist and co-owner of South-
field Psychological Resources, a
private mental health clinic. She
is past president of the Michigan
Psychological Association (MPA)
and was the 1995 recipient of the
MPA Distinguished Psychologist
Award.

p.m. The dairy dinner program
is $25 per person, and reserva-
tions are needed by Feb. 15.
