Special Seder
The Adat Shalom Synagogue
Sisterhood will observe the hol-
iday of Tu B'Shevat with a seder
following the group's board meet-
ing on Mon., Feb. 5. The meeting
will take place at 10 a.m., with
the seder beginning at 11 a.m.
Panel Handles
Women's Issues
A panel discussion will be held
on Thursday, Feb. 8, from noon
to 2 p.m. at the National Coun-
cil of Jewish Women's office,
30233 Southfield Rd.
The NCJW, in cooperation
with the Jewish Community
Council, will host two pubic af-
fairs activists from Israel. Dr.
Hala Hazan is chair of the sub-
committee on education of the
Follow-Up Committee, the un-
official body that monitors poli-
cies and practices in the Arab
sector; Mrs. hit Omanit is coor-
dinator of Isha L'Isha - The Haifa
Women's Center. Adding a local
perspective to the panel will be
Sandra Hyman, who is involved
with NCJW in the domestic vio-
lence program called Safe Place;
and Dr. Haifa Fakhouri, execu-
tive director of Arab Children So-
cial Services.
Attendees may bring a brown-
bag lunch; coffee, tea, and dessert
will be served. There is no charge
but reservations are requested.

Seniors Event
Up and Out for Seniors, spon-
sored by National Council of
Jewish Women, Greater Detroit
Section, will present Cantor Sid-
ney Resnick, with Lillian Zell-
man, accompanist,. on Thursday,
Feb. 22, 1 p.m. at the JPM JCC.
There is no charge; reserva-

Senior Events
Thursday Morning Movies take
place every Thursday at 9:45 am.
at JPM JCC. On Feb. 8, the
movie, "Bird of Paradise," a
South Seas romantic adventure,
will be shown. There is no charge.
Tax Form Assistance for low
income seniors will be offered on
Friday, Feb. 9, from 9-11 a.m. and
noon-2 p.m. Counselors • from
American Association of Retired
Persons (AARP) will be available
to assist low income seniors
($30,000 or less) with 1995 tax
forms. Reserve a time slot at the
front desk.
