1997 Maccabiah
Seeks Participants

The United States Maccabiah
Committee is recruiting athletes
and coaches for the 15th World
Maccabiah Games; July 5-25,
1997, in Israel.
At the last Maccabiah, in 1993,
the United States sent 650 ath-
letes to compete in 28 sports. Di-
visions include open, youth,
masters and disabled. Masters
athletes are self-funded, but the
others accepted on the U.S. team
receive a full trip to Israel, in-
cluding room and board.
Beach volleyball and ice hock-
ey will be added for the first time
in 1997. Other sports are bad-
minton, basketball, bridge, clay
pigeon shooting, fencing, field
hockey, golf, gymnastics, half
marathon, judo, karate, rhyth-
mic gymnastics, rowing, rugby,
sailing, shooting, soccer, softball,
squash, swimming, table tennis,
tennis, 10-pin bowling, track and
field, triathlon, volleyball, water
polo, weightlifting and wrestling.
