happy-go-lucky kids. They are
more content in their lives,
trusting of their parents and
conservative in their actions than
one would imagine.
According to a recent study by
Maariv, Israeli teens trust their
parents and, just as important,
know that their parents trust
them.
On a scale of one to 10, the
teens gave their parents an av-
erage score of 9.17 when an-
swering the question, "To what
extend do you trust your par-
ents?"
When asked, "How much do
your kids trust you?," the parents
gave an average score of 9.18.
When asked, "How much do
your parents trust you?," the
teens gave an average score of
8.8.
When asked, "How much do
your kids think you trust them?"
the parents gave an average
score of 8.7.
The study of 199 teens and 201
adults around the Jewish state
revealed that the teens are not
interested in sex, drugs and rock
`n' roll, but school, relationships
with the opposite sex and politics.
When attending parties, the
teens' top activities are dancing,
talking and drinking — soft
drinks.
It almost sounds too good to be
true. But psychologist Frida
Daniell told Maariv that teens
are doing well today because
their Israeli parents are "more
aware, open and involved" in
their children's lives than they
used to be.
This has given the teens' egos
a boost. On a scale of one to 10,
they gave their self image an av-
erage score of 7.8.
The study did uncover some
disturbing signs. One out of every
five teens, for instance, watches
"Beverly Hills 90210" religiously.
