Temple Beth El gathers at the
Birmingham Community
House. The 8 p.m. event is "A
Class Reunion of Roley High at
the Grand Hotel".

Welford, members of this new-
ly-formed group for young mar-
ried and singles, ages 20-35.

Bais Chabad
Lectures Set

Congregation Bais Chabad of
Farmington Hills will host two
Sunday morning brunch class-
es at the synagogue, 32000 Mid-
diebelt Road, Farmington Hills,
at 10 a.m.
On Sunday, Jan. 21, Rabbi
Levi Kagan will conduct a
mezuzah clinic. On Sunday, Jan.
28, Mrs. Corinne Herskovits will
give a lecture on "Alternative
Methods of Healing." Reserva-
tions are requested.
Rabbi Chaim Bergstein of
Congregation Bais Chabad of
Farmington Hills will continue
his 8:30 p.m. weekly Monday
night class on "Chasidic Theos-
ophy" at the home of Raizel and

Rabbi Chaim Bergstein will
continue his 8 p.m. Tuesday
night biweekly lecture series on

Dr. Twerski
Gives Lecture

Author, lecturer and psychia-
trist, Dr. Abraham Twerski, di-
rector, Gateway Rehabilitation
Program, Pittsburgh, will be in
Detroit, Monday, Feb. 5, to offer
a Jewish perspective on drug
and alcohol abuse.
Dr. Twerski is a founder of re-
habilitation programs. He has
also written 16 books.
The lecture is being brought

to Detroit by the Daniel Sobel
Friendship Circle, and is co-
sponsored by The Jewish News
and the Jewish Community
Center. The lecture will take
place at the Maple-Drake JCC.

Gale Kramer
In Concert

On Sunday, Jan. 21, at 4 p.m.,
Dr. Gale Kramer will perform at
Temple Beth El's fourth annual
"Music in the Sanctuary" con-
cert. The temple's organist since
1989, Mr. Kramer has had a var-
ied musical career. Gale Kramer
is a member of the affiliate mu-
sic faculty of Wayne State Uni-
versity and has served as
organist of the Rice Memorial
Organ at Detroit's Metropolitan
Methodist Church since 1977.
He has also played with the De-
troit Symphony Orchestra, per-
formed in recital throughout
Michigan and northeastern Ohio
and been heard as well in con-
cert in Spain and France.

Gale Kramer

He will present a lecture-
recital that includes the Tocca-
ta from Widor's Fifth Organ
Symphony, the light classic

Tales From the Vienna Woods,
Miriam's Dance by composer

Joel Martinson and Variations
on the Chanukah favorite, Maoz
Tzur. Featured, too, will be the
performance of William Al-
bright's The King of nstruments
with an accompanying poetic
narration as well as a demon-
stration of the distinctive voices
of the organ and some Paganini
variations played entirely by the
feet.
This year's "Music in the
Sanctuary" will be open to the
community free of charge; the
concert has been underwritten
by the temple's Mamie and Ja-
son Tickton Music Fund and Cy
Wagner Entertainment Fund.
Following the performance,
there will be light refreshments.
