"He can be a pain,
but I miss him a little
and I know he misses
me, too," she said.
When Dustin and
his parents returned
home from the bus,
the first thing he did
was write a letter to
his older sister, said
Ms. Goldenberg.
Hailee put her broth-
er's letter in the bunk's
construction-paper mail box just
before lunch.
Her first camp meal was a piz-
za bagel, salad and bug juice.
Hailee thought it was pretty
good.
After lunch, her counselors ac-
quainted the bunk with camp
and she had her first swim in the
lake. -
Hailee jumped in the water,
which was surprisingly warm, for

a camp swim test. She swam
eight laps so she could go on "the •
blob," a gigantic raft.
By nightfall, Hailee and her
bunk mates were exhausted, but
no one could fall asleep.
"Everyone was homesick and
two people cried," she said. "I was
the only one who wasn't home-
sick." ❑
