Mr. Co- hen came to Detroit in 1925. He became a real estate develop- er and the owner of Hershel Electronics. As Michigan chairman of Material for Israel, Inc., he was responsible for providing a car- avan of trucks loaded with food, clothing and other supplies for Israel during its war for independence. Mr. Cohen also persuaded manufacturers to donate computer parts so that the Weizmann Institute scientists could build Israel's first computer; he was person- Harry Cohen ally thanked by Chaim Weiz- mann; he received the Weizmann Medallion in 1966 and a plaque at the institute bears his name. Mr. Cohen was honered at the ground-break- ing ceremony for the new Congregation B'nai Moshe in West Bloomfield. He established the Warren E. Brennan Scholarship at the Uni- MORRIS D. BAKER, 69, of Canada, died Jan. 8. Mr. Baker was an architect and real estate developer and the owner of More Construction and Custom Homes in Windsor. Mr. Baker was a 1952 gradu- ate of the University of Michi- gan School of Architecture. He served on the national board of Zionist Organization of Ameri- ca, was a board member of CLAL (Center for Jewish Liv- ing and Learning) and a philan- thropist who was interested in Jewish causes. Mr. Baker was a member of Congregation Shaarey Zedek. Mr. Bernstein was a workman's compensation attor- ney for Bernstein and Bern- stein in Detroit. Mr. Bernstein graduated from high school at the age of 13 and immediately began taking pre-med classes. At 14, he changed to law and graduated from the Detroit Col- lege of Law at the age of 19. Mr. Bernstein is considered the grandfather of Michigan Work- man's Compensation. He was a union attorney for locals of Ford and General Mo- tors. In the early 1930s, Mr. Bernstein had a news commen- tary radio show on Sundays. He was a member of the Compos- ite Lodge of the Masons. Mr. Bernstein was the loving father of the late Jerome Bern- stein and the late Samuel Bern- stein.
