sion talk shows are promoting
everlasting unions between the
sexes by giving forums to mar-
riage proposals on the air, ac-
cording to Maariv.
Dudu Topaz was the first to
help amorous dreams come true
on TV, Maariv reports. The
stand-up comic sent his "First
In Entertainment" crew for live
coverage at the home of an un-
suspecting Atalia Dovlistein —
giving her a note to read on the
air written by her boyfriend Avi
Ben-David, "Will you marry
me?"
Ms. Dovlistein read the note
but refused to answer the ques-
tion, so Mr. Topaz invited her to
the studio for the following Sun-
day night's show.
Agreeing to appear, she still
refused to answer the question
on the air. Nevertheless, right
after that show, she agreed to
become Mrs. Ben-David. In re-
turn for the couple's trouble, the
show paid for the wedding — in-
cluding a honeymoon in the
Caribbean, according to Maariv.
But on the another television
talk show, host Yair Lapid did
not have as much luck. The mar-
riage proposal he read on the air
was later rescinded by its alleged
originator, Yosi Ashdot, Maariv
reports.
