The next Challah Days will be

the Applebaum Parenting Cen-
ter. Ruth Beresh and Karen Goss
will teach how to make a Challah
for Shabbat.
Sense of Shabbat is a new pro-
gram for moms and children Jan.
19, from 10-11 a.m. There is no
fee for this class.
The skills to effectively handle
burns, cuts, scrapes, sudden ill-
ness, fractures, sprains, knocked
out teeth, choking, and poison-
ing will be offered by Red Cross
instructor Kathleen Joseph Mon-
day, Feb. 26, from 6:30-10 p.m.
Certified Babysitting is a class
for 11-year-olds and up. Instruc-
tor Kellie Stamper will begin this
class Monday, Jan. 29, 4-5:30
p.m.
Healthy Moms, Happy Babies
is an exercise class for moms with
babies up to one year old. Bring
a blanket and get ready to work
out and socialize. Jan. 16, from

Great Jewish Ideas explores
the Torah, oral tradition, Pirke
Avot and more. Bring a dairy
lunch; a beverage will be provid-
ed. The class will be led by Rab-
bi Irwin Groner, Rabbi William
Gershon, Rabbi Leonardo Bitran
and Michael Wolf on Mondays,
noon-1 p.m. starting Jan. 22.

Kitchen Table is a morning

Events Set
At Maple-Drake

On Sunday, Jan. 21, from 1-4
p.m., learn to read and under-
stand simple Hebrew words in
less than four hours. Rita Abram-
son, educational director of B'nai
Moshe, will teach the class for in-
dividuals who have no working
knowledge of Hebrew.
A follow-up session will be held
on Sunday, Feb. 4, from 1 to 2
p.m. Members $25; non-mem-
bers $35; textbook $10. Call

On Monday, Jan. 22, at 2 p.m.,
Jeff Kaye, sheliach (emissary)
from Israel, will discuss the lat-
est developments in the peace
process. Members $1.50, non-

On Thursday, Jan. 25, at 7:30
p.m., Channel 4 news anchor
Emery King will moderate a pan-
el discussion on Jewish-African
American relations. The panel
consists of Dr. Arthur Johnson,
former executive director of the
NAACP; Maryanne Mahaffey,
president of Detroit City Coun-
cil, Judge Helene White, Ameri-
can Jewish Committee and Gail
Gales, Social Studies Depart-
ment Chair - Southfield/Lathrup
High School. Also participating
will be teen-agers from each com-

A Tu B'Shevat cantorial con-
cert with Cantor Glantz will be
on Monday, Jan. 29, at 1:30 p.m.
